#1. prince of death

From the Grace Site in the Liftside Chamber of Stormveil Castle, drop down the nearby ledge to reach a deep underground chamber with a mysterious face. There’s a devilish secret at the heart of this thing, and you’ll find out more by talking to Rogier the Sorcerer.

#2. Jarburg

Down the cliff, right next to the Carian study hall, you will find a peaceful hidden village of Jars. There are Jar parents and Jar children hanging around the remote town that can only be accessed from above. Find lots of relic jars and a few dangerous jars if you explore too closely.

#3. Frenzied Flame Village

A village of madness south of the Great Dectus Elevator. From the elevator, head south to reach the easy-to-miss town. There is a tower with madness-inducing light approaching. The destroyed village is guarded by unique enemies who shine with evil light in their eyes. Travel here if you wish to find the Frenzy Lord and gain clues to one of the darker endings of Ring of Elden.

#4. Nokron, eternal city

The underground city of Nokron is just one of many Eternal Cities in Elden Ring, but it might just be the coolest. To unlock the entrance to Nokron, defeat Starscourge Radahn, one of the optional Shardbearers found at Redmane’s Castle in Caelid. After his defeat, a comet collides with the field south of Mistwood. Go explore and you’ll find a path to the mysteries hidden beneath the Lands Between. An amazing city with strange creatures and a “sky” shining with twinkling stars, even when you are underground.

#5. Chapel of Anticipation

Only accessible from the four belfries on the western mountain of Liurnia of the Lakes, you’ll need to open a chest to get an Imbued Sword Key – then activate the belfry portal with “Precipice of Anticipation” in the note. This is the very first area in the game, and now you can take revenge on this impossible boss. You will also find some unique goodies there.

#6. deep depths

Accessible once you enter Nokron, the Eternal City – there’s a very easy-to-miss path in the Ancestral Woods that leads to a gargoyle boss fight. Defeat the twin monsters to find a lone coffin that you can ride directly into the Deeproot Depths, a cyclopean underground chamber filled with the roots of the Erdtree. There is an entire city in the milky white water flowing from this creepy place.

#7. Reverse carian study room

The Carian Study Hall is a real mystery in the Liurnia region of the lakes. Residing on the east coast, your first visit will be nothing but disconcerting. There are bodies seemingly hanging upside down from the rafters, and there is no way forward. Until you complete Ranni’s quest – found in the Distant Towers atop Caria Manor. She’ll give you the Inverted Statue which, when placed, completely inverts with the tower. You’ll “climb” as you fall, making this one of the weirdest dungeons of all souls Game.

#8. Dominula, village of windmills

On the way to Leyndell, you’ll probably want to take a detour north from the dangerous main gates. On the northern roads, do not miss the strange sights of Dominula. This seemingly peaceful village is full of flower arrangements and dancing villagers. Is there anything else in the game that feels so oddly festive? Of course, all of this is just a facade for a bad divine apostle. But this spooky village is still a sight to behold.

#9. prison city

A sinister city-shaped torture chamber, all hidden within the Blasphemous Halls of Volcano Manor. The mansion is located on Mount Gelmir, west of the Altus plateau. The whole area is optional and you will only find a quiet (if scary) mansion at the top of the mountain. Investigate further by following their quest and you will find a hidden door leading to the seething underbelly of evil that resides here. Bizarre lizardmen and torture victims mingle, leading to one of the weirdest boss fights in gaming. A must-see location.

#ten. rot lake

From one place of pure evil to another. The Rot Lake is an underground chamber overflowing with Crimson Rot juice. To cross, you’ll need to sprint from save island to save island, flipping switches until you can reach the ancient Grand Cloister and face a completely out-of-this-world astral boss. It’s an optional area well worth checking out, even though it’s the quintessential poison swamp.

#11. Underground Escape Lands

Deep in the sewer-catacombs of Leyndell, Royal Capitol, your Tarnished may discover a terrible secret in a seemingly normal dungeon called the Shunning-Grounds. Once you reach a site of grace called the Cathedral of the Forsaken, attack the back wall to reveal a huge catacomb with thousands of corpses inside. The bodies aren’t just dead – they’re screaming in pain, hands over their heads in the throes of madness. The basement is so full of dead people that you will have to step on it. And not everyone left. Descend to the bottom of this hell to find a strange door that unlocks an even darker ending.

#12. Abandoned Depths

The weirdest optional dungeon we’ve come across in the game so far. This mind-boggling dungeon takes you through a series of repeating loops – after descending from a seemingly familiar location, you’ll wander down the same corridors endlessly, trapped and discovering strange alterations with each loop. This spooky puzzle box is the PT of the Elden Ring Underground Catacombs, and shouldn’t be missed. You’ll find it deep underground in Leyndell, Royal Capitol in the filthy Shunning-Grounds.

#13. Consecrated Snow Field

This misty snowfield provides access to two important additional secret areas, and to reach this location you will need to find Secret Medallion Parts. One is located in the Albinauric Village – near the Grace Site, try breaking the vase for a surprise. The other room is at the end of Castle Sol on Giant’s Mountain. If you manage to get both, you can use Rold’s Great Elevator to reach this special place.

It offers a chilling trek through a blinding blizzard, ending at the Ordina, liturgical city. In one of the most unique challenges in the game, you’ll have to enter an alternate world village and sneak past unseen assassins to fight your way through.

#14. Mohgwyn Palace

A fetid ruin with blood up to your knees, exploding corpses and other disgusting crimson delights, the Palace of Blood is visible from your first visit to the subterranean depths of the Siofra River. The Hidden Palace can only be accessed from the Consecrated Snowfield. Along the eastern ledge you will find a single bloody portal that will lead you to the dungeon. A tough Shardbearer awaits.

#15. Town of Haligtree

The source of corruption. The massive dead tree is where a large castle resides, and by solving the puzzle of Ordina, liturgical village, you will come to the high branches of the incredibly huge Haligtree. Starting at the top, you will have to work your way through the treetop village, to the castle brace. Every section of this incredible region is stunning. And everything is completely optional. The Shardbearer at the very bottom might just be the toughest boss in the entire series. Even if you can’t beat the boss, you will have fond memories of this amazing place.

#16. Radagon Statue

After defeating Godfrey in Erdtree Shrine, go back up the stairs to find a black statue of Radagon, the founder of the Golden Order. At the base of the statue, you will find a mysterious message that reads “Regression Alone Reveals Secrets”. What does all this mean?

When speaking to the Turtle Cleric at the Church of Vows, he will tell you that a sculptor has hidden Radagon’s secret inside the statue itself. To know the secret, you will have to perform a very specific rite. We don’t know if only one of these steps is necessary or both, but here’s what to do.

Obtain Miriel’s Law of Regression incantation. Use the spell on the statue and it will disappear revealing a hidden official message. The cryptic message reveals a huge spoiler from the Elden Ring lore. If you are ready, click below.

Radagon is Marika“.

Soak up this revelation. These are 16 amazing places you must visit in Elden Ring, and there are so many more that we haven’t put here. What do you think we missed? Let us know and we’ll visit the Lands Between a second time.
