Your new iPhone might not recognize the SIM card that you’ve inserted in it. A message such as “SIM failure,” “Invalid SIM,” or “No SIM” will appear on the display. Since throwing your iPhone out the window or breaking it with a sledgehammer aren’t options for a reasonable and educated fellow like yourself, it’s time to learn a few possible fixes that any grown-up should use:

Make sure the SIM card is inserted the right way

If your SIM card isn’t inserted or positioned the right way in your iPhone, don’t be surprised if the device doesn’t recognize it. Therefore, the first thing you need to do is make sure the SIM card is inserted the right way.

Simply turn off your iPhone and take the SIM card out of it. Wipe off any amount of dust that might exist on the card or in the tray. Make sure that the SIM card is not physically damaged. If there is any damage there, you will have to contact your carrier to replace your SIM card. If there’s no damage and you’ve eventually wiped off any dust that could exist there, add the SIM card back in the iPhone and see if the problem has gone away or not.

Toggle the Airplane Mode

Toggling the Airplane Mode can save the day whether you’re dealing with iPhone WiFi issues, GPS, cellular data, Bluetooth problems, or the no SIM error.

You can do it in a very simple way by heading over to the Settings menu and turning Airplane mode on for about 15 to 20 seconds. Then, turn it off and see if your problem has been solved or not.

Restart your iPhone

Simply restarting your iPhone can get you rid of a lot of technical problems, including the famous errors with the SIM card. It’s a fact that smartphones sometimes work in mysterious ways, and iPhones are no exception to the rule.

Therefore, you need to press and hold the sleep button and drag the slider when it emerges, or just press and hold the volume down and power buttons.

Don’t forget about the carrier settings update

The issue can find its solution in many cases as soon as you perform an update for the Carrier Settings. All you have to do, basically, is head over to Settings, General, and About. If there is any update available for the carrier settings, you will be prompted to update. Feel free to respond positively by choosing the Update option and see if your problem has gone away.

Obviously, not having your SIM card recognized means that you won’t have the possibility to send or receive calls and messages or use the mobile data plan.

All iPhone models could have trouble recognizing a newly inserted SIM card, which means that there’s no use in starting to despair. Simply apply each of the tips mentioned above at a time and see if the problem has gone away.
