A 22re Engine is a reliable engine that can last for many years with the proper care. Many people choose to neglect their engine, which can lead to costly repairs down the road. By following a few simple tips, you can keep your engine running strong for years to come. One of the most important things you can do for your engine is to change the oil regularly. Over time, oil breaks down and becomes less effective at lubricating the engine components. This can lead to increased wear and tear, and eventually engine failure. Check your owner’s manual to see how often the manufacturer recommends changing your oil. Another important tip is to keep an eye on your engine’s coolant level. The coolant helps to keep the engine from overheating, and if it gets low, it can cause the engine to overheat and sustain damage. Check the coolant level regularly and top it off if it gets low. If you notice any strange noises or vibrations coming from your engine, it’s important to have it checked out by a professional as soon as possible. These could be signs of a serious problem, and if left unchecked, could lead to engine failure. By following these simple tips, you can keep your 22re engine running strong for many years.

In general, the best oil for 22re is anything that meets the SG spec or newer (SG, SH, etc.) and is energy-saving. If you want something other than the generically known as SN or SM, you’ll need to use non-API-rated racing oil or stock from a few years ago. Oil thinners have clearance in newer engines so they can be used. In its heyday, Toyota sold extremely high-quality filters with a reinforced frame on the gasket end and a compressed element rather than pleated paper. So far, I’ve found about 20 old Toyota part numbers on my computer that I use to search for old stocks of these filters. In my opinion, a YZZ part number in your OEM Toyota filter is a poor Maylasian made filter, and I avoid them like the plague. In the past, Toyota used to sell really high-quality filters with a reinforced frame on the gasket end and a compressed element rather than pleated paper. If your OEM Toyota filter has a YZZ mark, this is a Maylasian-made filter that I avoid.
