App Freezer: What it is and how to Freeze App on Android

Some Apps can be a real pain in the neck. They use data bandwidth and ram in the background of our devices without our knowledge, resulting in rapid battery and data drain. This article will show you how to stop an app from running on your smartphone.

What Is an App Freezer?

As the name implies, Freezer is an app that allows us to mute, freeze or silence stubborn applications that are hell-bent on draining our mobile data and battery.

Is it necessary to root your phone before you can freeze apps?

No, you do not need to root your phone in order to freeze applications on it. On most Android devices running Nougat 7.0 and higher, there is an app called “Freezer” that comes pre-installed.

If your Android version is less than nougat 7.0, you’ll need to root your phone and install Google Play apps like Greenify, Brevent, or Quarantine. These apps will assist you in freezing those stubborn applications.

How To Freeze Apps On Android 7.0 and Above

  • Open the freezer app
  • Select Add.
  • A list of all the apps that can be frozen on your phone will be displayed.
  • Select the apps you’d like to freeze by clicking on them.

Another option is to drag the desired app into the freezer app. Only if the app you want to freeze is close to the freezer app can you use this method.

How To Freeze Apps On Android Phones With Versions Lower Than Android 7

After rooting your phone, go to the Google Play Store and look for apps that will allow you to freeze apps. Quarantine, Greenify, and Brevent are a few examples. We’ll use the Quarantine App in this article.

  • Launch the Quarantine App
  • The Apps on your phone will displayed
  • Select the App you want to freeze
  • Click the lock icon at the top right hand side.

If you accidentally froze an app, simply open the Quarantine App, select the app you want to unfreeze, and click the unlock button in the top right corner.
