Samsung today announced its flagship image sensor that will most likely be the highlight of the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra – the ISOCELL HP1.

Samsung ISOCELL HP1 does not have the largest pixels. Their size is 0.64 µm. According to the manufacturer, the compact size of the sensor can solve the problem of integration in thin smartphones, where every millimeter of space is worth its weight in gold.

The sensor supports ChameleonCell technology, which is responsible for improving the quality of materials in the absence of light. By combining 16 pixels, the size increases to 2.56 microns, and the smartphone can take pictures in dusk and darkness with 12.5 MP resolution.

Samsung ISOCELL HP1 supports shooting video in 8K ULTRA HD at 30 FPS. The recording is done in 50MP mode by combining four adjacent pixels.

Samsung says that samples of both ISOCELL HP1 and GN5 sensors are available so we expect to see them in devices very soon.
