How to Download the configuration file from FortiSASE portal using FortiGate support tool

This article describes how to download the configuration file using the Fortigate Support Tool.

Scope

FortiSASE.

Solution

The FortiGate Support Tool is available for the Google Chrome browser.

To install the Fortinet support tool extension, search in Chrome and add the extension.

To download the configuration file, log into the FortiSASE portal, locate the extension that has been added at the top right section of Chrome, and select ‘New Capture’.

Select ‘Start Capture’.

Later the recording will get started, wait for 30 seconds, and stop the recording by selecting the red box.

Once the recording stops, it will automatically download the fgtcapture.

Once a fgtcapture has been created, it can be viewed by selecting the ‘View Existing Capture’ button in the Fortigate Support Tool extension dropdown.

A new tab will open in the browser.

Drag and drop the fgtcapture file into this page. A dashboard will present the information about the capture.

In the top left corner is a video of the capture, the bottom left is a resource usage chart, and on the right-hand side is either general information or a log stream.

From the dropdown on the right-hand side, the default option is ‘Capture Summary’, but it contains the options presented in the image below.

Select ‘Device info’.

It will show ‘config’ and on the left end side the option to download the config file.
