Location and Distance from Islamabad

The distance from Islamabad to Mingora / Sidi Sharif is 247 km and takes about 5-6 hours. This path is open for all kinds of traffic throughout the year. Mingora has an airport and scheduled flights from Islamabad.

Best temperature / weather to visit

The main tourist season for Swat starts in spring and lasts until autumn. From April to May it’s the best time to visit Swat when the fresh green grass carpet covers the slopes. For hiking and visiting the USHU forest and Lake Mahodand, you have to go in the summer, the best time to travel starts from mid-July to mid-September. The distance and travel time are shown below.

Sawat is connected to Islamabad by a road entirely covered by the Mardan motorway (M-1) through which you can reach Mardan in an hour and a half after traveling a distance of 131 km. From Mardan the road conditions are very good up to Bahrain, but from Bahrain to Kalam the road is bumpy.

Places to Visit in Swat Valley

Mahodand Lake

Lake Mahodand is located in the north of Kalam, 12 km from Ushu. It is famous among lovers of nature and peace and hunters of trout fish. ‘Mahodand’ means ‘Fish Lake’. Riding, boating, fishing, kayaking on one of the Swat Valley trails, tourists from all over the world have embarked on their journey to explore Lake Mahodand. The shores of Lake Mahodand are covered by pines and pastures that act as camping sites during the summer.

Marghazar

This place is located about 13 km from the capital Saidu Sharif. Marghazar is famous for the white palace. The meaning of the word Marghzar is “green earth”. This area is surrounded by green valleys, mountains and water springs. From here you can see the mountain Koh-e-Alam, which has a height of 10,000 feet. This place is ideal for a morning walk. Marghazar has a 200-year-old colossal chinar tree, which serves as a shelter for visitors.

Malam Jabba

The 40-kilometer ski resort and pine trees along the mountain lifts at Saidu Sharif are famous attractions in Malam Jabba. In the winter, KPK offers an annual ski tournament.

Kumrat Valley

Kumrat valley is one of the beautiful valleys of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is a pleasant place for tourists. There are many places to visit during your stay. Some of them are the Panjkora River, Do Kala Chashma, Badagoi Pass, Lake Bara Dand, Kalkot, Katora lake, Dojanga.

Kalam

Thick forest valleys, temperate temperatures, white streams and snow-covered glaciers are about 95 km from Mingora City. Kalakot, Qandeel, Damlai, Madyan and Trout Fish Point are important attractions for visitors. The Ushu and Utrot rivers join the Kalam valley to form the Swat River.

Bahrain

Bahrain is seven miles from Madyan. Bahrain means “two water”. Because it is located at the confluence of the Daral and Swat rivers. Bahrain’s atmosphere is always fun because of the two rivers.

There are many other tourist attractions such as Takht I Bahi, Mingora, Bazira, Ushu Forest, Mighty 22 Waterfalls, Barikot, Udegram, Utrot and Gabral, Fizagat, Butkara Stupa khwazakhela and Miandam.
