The registration of the Huawei AR Glass and Huawei VR Glass trademarks at the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and the IPO (Intellectual Property Office) of the United Kingdom, could suggest a growing interest by the Chinese company to the so-called "smart glasses".
Smart glasses are a sector in which Huawei has already timidly put a foot in the past few months with the announcement of Smart Eyewear made in collaboration with Gentle Monster. Of the "normal" sunglasses, without cameras, able however to connect to a smartphone to interact with a voice assistant and to answer calls and listen to music in stereo thanks to two microphones, dual speakers and Bluetooth.
Both the registration application of Huawei AR Glass and that of Huawei VR Glass are classified as Class 9, with the description “ Smartglasses; smartwatches; smartphones; 3D glasses; Sunglasses; eyeglasses”. Applications for the Huawei SuperSensing Camera and Cine Lens brands have also been submitted in recent weeks, both probably designed for the upcoming Mate 30 series.
Furthermore, at the beginning of the year, Huawei was also granted a patent for glasses called Huawei AR that work in combination with a smartwatch.
