Three companies in the technology industry such as Verizon, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies are collaborating on networking and connection issues, and have announced a new achievement.
They have reportedly successfully completed the first FDD Massive MIMO test using a client device that is “fully compatible”.
Together, in particular, the Verizon network, the latest version of Ericsson Massive MIMOsoftware and hardware and a mobile based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 platform with X20 LTE , this using TM9.
“This is another great example of advancing the industry,” said Nicola Palmer, head of network engineering and head of wireless networks at the US operator, who stressed that “we do not wait for the future, we build it”.
Palmer says that “Massive MIMO is a critical component” for 4G LTE, but that it will also “play an important role in 5G technology that will result in single-digit latency and scalability in billions of connections.”
Both Ericsson Massive MIMO and the first smartphones with compatible TM9 chips should reach the market this year.
