For this they have used the latest specifications of the 3GPP NR standard. And what would have been demonstrated is that the URLLC mode is capable of supporting the V2X application with more capacity and coverage than other technologies. With a coordinated fleet of trucks, all controlled by the 5G NR network, 99.999% reliability was achieved with a 1ms round trip delay , which is necessary for autonomous outdoor driving. It was also shown that the signaling header can be reduced by 67% compared to today’s cellular systems.
With the help of a novel auto-content frame scheme, the response to the transmissions is accelerated and the communications present very low latency.
“This proof of concept lays the foundations for the large-scale field tests that will have to be carried out in the next commercial deployments of the 5G mobile networks worldwide”, indicate their managers.
5G-V2X technology links advanced services such as sharing sensor information in vehicles in real time, driving fleets of trucks together, remote driving or Assisted driving, for example.
