The artificial intelligence is permeating the lives of users increasingly intense and personal. It is completely redefining the way in which we interact with devices, whether smartphones, tablets, wearables, connected vehicles or personal assistants … But it is nothing compared to what we will see in a few years.
As predicted by the consultancy Gartner, artificial intelligence systems (those that are able to detect our feelings and moods) are in a stage of great sophistication and very soon they will be able to offer us experiences that are increasingly personalized according to the data that we provide.
Moreover, it ensures that those technological companies that do not incorporate emotional AI functions in their offer, will be doomed to disappear . These capabilities will be an innate feature of consumer electronics in 2022 and many devices will know more about us than family members or friends . It sounds like science fiction, but it is something that is very close to occur.
Currently, this way of relating them to technology is mainly found in personal assistants, but later it will be extended to other scenarios such as software related to education , videogames , medical applications or sports performance.
Here comes the inclusion of artificial intelligence at the chip level as part of the hardware of smartphones. Companies such as Apple and Samsung are already behind this development, but perhaps it is Huawei (and more recently its eBrand Honor ) that has the most road since it presented the SoC Kirin 970 , with its innovative unit of communication, during the last IFA in Berlin. NPU process (Neural Processing Unit).
It is a specific hardware within the chip, much more optimized to execute neural instructions that simulate the human brain and are able to learn over time based on the reactions and behavior of their owners.
Huawei is building a true ecosystem of partners to facilitate the work when developing new applications, so soon we will begin to see the first creations beyond the software built by the manufacturer for the terminals that have the Kirin 970.
Gartner itself published a few days ago the most common trends or uses that we will see in four or five years ( when 80% of terminals have AI at the chip level ): they will predict the following movements of users, they will be able to authenticate them univocally, they will recognize their emotions and act on them, understand their natural language, provide more advanced experiences of augmented reality, detect and censor certain contents … and a long list of features that we still do not know about today but that artificial intelligence will allow to develop during the next five years.
