2024 Porsche Macan EV goes all-in on electric power

Porsche has unveiled the all-new second-generation 2024 Porsche Macan EV.

The biggest news for the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is that it will only be available as an EV. Porsche is clearly all-in when it comes to electrification. With the Macan’s enduring popularity within the lineup, the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is set to make Porsche EVs a much more ubiquitous sight on the streets.

The 2024 Porsche Macan EV is larger than the vehicle it replaces. Width and length each increase by roughly 2 inches while the wheelbase is 3.4 inches longer. The 2024 Porsche Macan EV’s drag coefficient is 0.25, down from 0.35 of the previous generation gas-powered version.

Porsche has been known to play it safe with styling, and for good reason. Their legacy is nearly as much about design as it is about performance. The 2024 Porsche Macan EV builds on the theme set by the previous generation Macan while adding styling cues from the Taycan EV. As previewed by sketches released just a few days ago, the 2024 Porsche Macan EV features slimmer headlights with distinctive four-dash light signatures and an aggressive front bumper. The profile of the 2024 Porsche Macan EV stays close to the previous generation, where large wheels can be found filling out its wheel wells. The most significant exterior change can be seen around back, where the 2024 Porsche Macan EV has adopted a much larger full-width taillight bar with the Porsche name spelled out across it. This light is mounted higher on the vehicle and does not curve in the middle like the last one.

Inside is much the same story as the exterior, with the 2024 Porsche Macan EV featuring an interior design reminiscent of the Taycan and recently re-designed Cayenne. Two standard screens are set into the clean, minimal lines of the new interior: a 10.9-inch display serving as a digital gauge cluster and a 12.6-inch display serving as the central infotainment screen. As in the Taycan, an additional display can be optioned for the front seat passenger. If all those screens prove to be too much for you, you’ll be able to activate a new minimalist mode that cuts down on digital distractions for a more focused driving experience. Of course, in true Porsche fashion, the start/stop button for the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is located to the left of the steering wheel.

Of course, what is a Porsche without stellar performance? Initially, the 2024 Porsche Macan EV will be available in base Macan 4 and Macan Turbo guises. All 2024 Porsche Macan EVs will feature all-wheel drive with an electric motor on each axle. The base 2024 Porsche Macan EV 4 is no slouch, delivering 402 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque for a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds. The 2024 Porsche Macan EV Turbo ups the ante with 630 hp and 833 lb-ft of torque, delivering a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds. Both versions come standard with an adaptive air suspension, with rear-wheel steering being available as an option.

Every 2024 Porsche Macan EV will feature a 100 kWh battery pack with an updated chemistry compared to the Taycan and will allow for charging speeds up to 270 kW. Exact range numbers have yet to be released, though both versions of the 2024 Porsche Macan EV are expected to deliver more than 300 miles of range.

Pricing for the 2024 Porsche Macan EV 4 starts at $78,800 plus a $1,650 destination fee, while the 2024 Porsche Macan EV Turbo will start at $105,300 plus destination.

Porsche is taking orders for the 2024 Porsche Macan EV as of today, with deliveries expected to begin in the summer of 2024.
