Chevy has unveiled the redesigned 2024 Chevy Traverse SUV, which now features a more bold exterior, a more modern interior and a new engine.

The 2024 Traverse now looks more rugged, especially in the new Z71 trim level. The more upright and squared off face is a nice departure from the more minivan-like face on the last generation. Chevy hasn’t given us any specs for the exterior, so we don’t know if it’s grown at all. It did confirm that it has a max cargo space of 98 cubic feet, which is the best in the class.

Inside there’s a new large 17.7-inch touchscreen and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. Wireless phone charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot are available and it also comes with six USB ports to charge all your devices.

The base LS trim level comes standard with eight seats, while the LT is also available with the second row bench seat. The Z71 and RS trim levels come exclusively with second row captain’s chairs, which means that they only have room for seven.

The old 3.6-liter V6 has been swapped out for a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which generates 315 horsepower and 317 pound feet of torque. That’s an increase of five horsepower and 51 pound-feet over the V6. The four-cylinder is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, with buyers being able to choose either front- or all-wheel drive. The Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

For buyers that want a more rugged look and more off-road capability, there’s the Z71, which rides an inch higher and has an increased track width. The Traverse Z71 also gets a unique front fascia for an improved approach angle, an aluminum skid plate and red tow hooks. The dampers have also been tweaked to improve its off-road capability and the Z71 also adds 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Lastly the Z71 has a unique twin-clutch all-wheel drive system that’s better equipped for off-roading.

The 2024 Chevy Traverse will arrive in early 2024.
