At the Amazon Devices Event, Amazon has just introduced among the various products its newest bet for the market of smart wearables: the Echo Frames. Equipped with Amazon’s personal assistant Alexa, Echo Frames is a different solution than smart glasses that tried to enter the market and failed to be very invasive.

With no screens and no cameras, Amazon’s vision for a smart eyeglass is more discreet than its competitors, and may finally kick-start Google’s theorized future for years. Weighing just 37 grams, Echo Frames offers a traditional frame with extra features like voice-activated Alexa activation, directional speakers to the user’s ears – allowing you to make phone calls, listen to music and podcasts – and with support for gestures on the support rods.

Amazon did not confirm the release date of Echo Frames, nor did it even mention information about specific battery capacity or life except for providing a full daytime experience.
