Samsung Announces J3 and J7 2018

Samsung has just added a number of new phones to its J-series. The 2017 versions of the popular midrangers, called Galaxy J3 and Galaxy J7, have just received their 2018 update.

For some reason Samsung decided to keep quiet about the hardware of the new devices, their press release only draws attention to some basic functions.

That's why we can not say exactly what the new additions are packing, but they seem to be strict centers with moderate internals and a decent display. First let's look at the bigger and better Galaxy J7 (2018),

Galaxy J7 (2018) Specifications

In the company's press release, only the camera specifications of the new Galaxy J7 were revealed. There is no rimless representation, no notch, no high aspect ratio and the design seems reasonable on its predecessor that was launched in 2017.

The material finish looks like metal, there are also no dual cameras at the back. The lower panel contains the distinctive home button and capacitive key combination of Samsung with the latest icons of the company's current design theme. As far as the screen is concerned, it is a 5.5-inch HD (720 x 1280) screen – it looks a lot like an AMOLED like the predecessor had.

There is a single camera at the back, consisting of a 13 MP f / 1.7 shooter. Selfie camera can manage 13 MP at an aperture of f / 1.9. All in all, the design and camera specifications show that it is a device with a low average range, ie hardware with a low source and minimal functions. Storage is expandable via microSD card slot.

Galaxy J3 (2018) Specifications

As the name suggests, this is more focused on the entry clamp, it is smaller, has fewer goodies and comes with cheaper hardware.

We only know that it has a 5-inch screen, probably an IPS LCD – the predecessor had the same – because AMOLED is more premium and more expensive. Again, there is no word on his chipset, RAM, storage or battery for now.

It has an 8 MP camera on the back, aperture f / 1.9 and a 5 MP f / 2.2 sensor on the front for selfies. This seems a downgrade, the 2017 version of the Galaxy J3 had instead a 13 MP rear sensor, the same f / 1.9 aperture. The new one might be a little better, but we can not say it with certainty.

A separate comment about the PR reads,

All functionality, features, specifications and other product information in this document, including but not limited to benefits, design, prices, components, performance, availability and capabilities of the product are subject to change without notice or obligation.

Prices must be affordable, J3 must be priced close to Rs. 16,000 while the high-end J7 is expected to cost at least Rs. 22,000. We will let you know when more information becomes available.
