Your Favorite Pakistani Celebrities Collecting Eidi For Edhi Will DEFINITELY Warm Your Heart

Have you noticed # EidiForEdhi messages on your timeline?

The reports hovered to cause a hype about the first ever digital fundraising effort facilitated by Coca-Cola yesterday. Hosted via Facebook, the event was attended by celebrities and watched by fans everywhere in Pakistan who asked questions and came in contact with the celebrities, many of whom eventually promised donations.

Acting as anchors, Momina Mustehsan and Ali Rehman acted as the gracious hosts of the digithon.

Momina has memories of how the ride reminds her of childhood when we were all encouraged to share lunch boxes at school and Ali Rehman also threw in that charity begins at home.

Joining the hosts were Ahad Raza Mir and Maya Ali who talked about the need to donate.

One of the sweetest things that Ahad had to say was to explain how we should not limit our donations to a particular month, but give back part of our routine.

It is not important to be generous only during Ramazan or to contribute to a great event or cause,

This is where Maya Ali told a story from a time when her family ordered food and the bill gave her some perspective

People were encouraged to call in with their promises and shared personal anecdotes. A dialer from Karachi talked about how everyone should eat their leftovers because all help is welcome.

The dream team was then joined by Younis Khan who shared a story from two years ago, where the Pakistani cricket team wore Edhi badges on top of their equipment to honor Edhi and encourage donations for his operation.

The celebrities spoke about patriotism, the love they had during their travels abroad and how happy they find it to be abroad Pakistan. They also complained about social responsibility and how few things, such as throwing away waste properly, are things that we all individually can make a positive contribution to.

Younis Khan signed his iconic cricket debate and all the other celebrities who entered as fans were encouraged to bid as all contributions are in favor of Edhi Foundation.

So far the bids have increased to 50,000 and 100,000

But the auction is still open, which means that you CAN STILL still be able to post the inbox on the Coca-Cola Facebook page to get this baby:

The total donations received during the hour amounted to 13,050,000, of which Momina Mustehsan contributed over 1 million.

While Ramazan is the best time to donate, the spirit of giving back is not just to be limited this month. You can go ahead and do more charitable activities using bottles of changes or contacting the Edhi Foundation network. What do you think of the digithon? Have you watched your favorite celebrities?
