P21 Mass Updates: Basic Screen Overview

In today’s video, we will cover the basic side of the Mass Update screen in Epicor’s Prophet 21. There are two ways to run a mass update in P21—basic and Excel queries. This tutorial will focus on the Basic Screen version of Mass Updates.

Start by opening the basic screen for mass updates in Item Maintenance. Above the Filter Criteria, you will find a list of Action Items.

Mass Update Action Items:

Send Changes will basically save your changes. You can also Schedule Changes to run later.

Preview will run your filter criteria or run changes if you have values set to change.

Clear will erase the data and close the Mass Update window.

Job Status will give you a list of any mass updates that you have previously run. It lists their statuses and a breakdown of passes and failures.

Mass Update Query Results:

Below, we have the results from the filter criteria, which we have covered the criteria in another video. Also to the left, we have the saved templates, which were covered in that same video.

To show you the functionality, I have already run a preview to give some results in this section. Essentially, I was looking for any item that contains B and D, and then the replenishment method was set as Up To.

Mass Update Data Tabs:

In this example, there are only two tabs of data at the bottom of the screen. Item ID lives in the General tab in Item Maintenance, and the Replenishment Method lives in the Replenishment tab. All of the tabs at the bottom are the same ones that live on an actual item maintenance screen.

How to add a Data Tab from Filter Criteria:

To add another filter criteria, hit the plus sign () and scroll through the list to choose the ones you want to filter by. Essentially when you add criteria from any other tab, that tab and everything in it will become available in the query.

When you search and add a criteria (i.e. COST > Standard Cost), even if you don’t fully process the query, it will automatically add that criteria as a data tab under the results. If you click the Cost tab, it will pull up a query.

The query shows you all the possible columns in that tab. Even if you have not searched for any of those, it is a way to narrow down the information you are looking for. If you remove the Cost tab and don’t keep any of the data, it will disappear down the bottom and leave General and Replenishment.

Conclusion:

So that is the basic layout of the screen. We will get into some more functionality of the different mass update screens soon. If you guys have questions about Prophet 21’s Mass Update feature, or anything else, comment below.
