OnePlus Smartphones Will Not Support Google’s Project Treble

OnePlus recently launched it’s latest flagship killer called the Oneplus 5T. And now the Chinese company has confirmed that their current portfolio of devices will not support Google’s Project Treble. This announcement came when a OnePlus user asked about it in their forums.

OnePlus Beta Programme Project Manager Adam Krisko said: “We are not currently supporting Treble, and do not plan to for these [OnePlus 3/ 3T and 5/ 5T] devices,”. Google launched the project treble at Google I/O 2017 with the aim of providing faster software update across android devices.

Basically project treble reduces the time that the OEM takes to deliver the update to its users. With this OEM will not have to wait for Google to deliver them the latest versions and they can make their changes and release the update to the users ASAP.

But the absence of Project Treble does not mean late Android updates, OnePlus has already announced that the Android 8.0 Oreo update will hit the OnePlus 5 and Oneplus 5T users in December.
