Dual-Camera System

With the launch of the original Mavic Pro in 2016, DJI established the folding drone category, putting professional-quality imaging in a body that could fit in a backpack for the first time. Two years later, the Mavic 2 Pro inaugurated DJI’s partnership with Hasselblad, using a one-inch sensor to push the limits of drone imagery even further. Mavic 3 sets a new bar for imaging perfection with its innovative dual-camera Hasselblad system.

The customized L2D-20c aerial camera for the DJI Mavic 3 features a professional-grade 4/3 CMOS sensor and a 24mm prime lens in a sleek and compact package. It can shoot 20MP still photographs in 12-bit RAW format and movies in 5.1K at 50fps and 4K at 120fps according to strict Hasselblad standards for hardware performance and software algorithms. The greater video definition results in smoother footage and additional cropping options, as well as the ability to shoot slow-motion video at 120 frames per second.

The bigger image sensor gives the Mavic 3 better video resolution and dynamic range, as well as better noise suppression in low-light situations. A 12.8-stop native dynamic range helps save more details in highlights and shadows, keeping rich visual information with a stronger sense of depth and boosting photos to a professional level. A variable aperture of f/2.8-f/11 is offered to fulfill the needs of aerial photographers in a variety of lighting settings, allowing them to capture crisper and clearer photographs.

The 24mm equivalent autofocus primary lens weighs only 12.5 grams and features an 84° field of view to capture more details with excellent clarity. The Mavic 3’s second camera has a 162mm tele lens with 28x Hybrid Zoom (digital + optical) and an aperture of f/4.4 that allows the user to freely pull distant objects closer, giving them more dynamic viewpoints and creative options. The Hasselblad camera’s innovative Vision Detection Auto Focus technology allows it to function with numerous vision sensors on board to record distance data and maximize focusing speed.

The Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS), based on decades of photographic experience and first introduced to DJI cameras with the Mavic 2 Pro, gives Mavic 3 a highly realistic color palette right out of the box. Mavic 3 produces aerial footage at high resolutions and framerates, capturing up to 1 billion colors thanks to the 10-bit D-Log color profile, which provides natural color gradations and excellent post-production flexibility.

Mavic 3 Cine is a version that uses Apple ProRes 422 HQ encoding at a maximum data rate of 3772Mbps, giving professionals a strong tool to meet their post-production demands. The Mavic 3 Cine has a built-in 1TB SSD to accommodate the massive amounts of data generated by the ProRes codec and high frame rate films. The new DJI 10Gbps Lightspeed Data Cable helps transmit huge data files quickly for a smoother export experience.

Easy Flights with Improved Flight Safety

DJI has always been a leader in the drone industry when it comes to developing revolutionary safety features, and the Mavic 3 builds on that heritage with better obstacle detecting and navigation algorithms that provide drone pilots with the information they need to stay safe. APAS 5.0 combines inputs from six fish-eye vision sensors and two wide-angle sensors to detect obstacles in all directions in real-time and plan safe flying routes around them – even in complex surroundings.

With the improved ActiveTrack 5.0 [4], the omnidirectional obstacle sensing system allows users to feel obstacles even in Normal mode, allowing for more intuitive subject tracking. Previous ActiveTrack versions allowed the camera to track a target as it traveled directly toward and away from the drone while remaining relatively immobile, as well as fly alongside a moving subject.

Mavic 3 can fly alongside and around a moving subject thanks to ActiveTrack 5.0, which lets it go forward, backward, left, right, and diagonally with the subject. Furthermore, if the subject moves too quickly and is temporarily out of frame, the aircraft’s visual sensors will continue to monitor and frame the subject intelligently until it reappears. While employing ActiveTrack, these additional directions allow for significantly more fluid and dynamic drone and camera movement.

With signals from GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou satellites, Mavic 3 has a strong positioning system that enhances hovering precision. Mavic 3 can now lock onto several satellite signals faster than ever before. Mavic 3 is less prone to drift in the air and more stable for shooting long exposures and time-lapses because of its increased positioning precision.

Other comprehensive safety technologies pioneered by DJI to keep the skies safe in the drone era are included in the Mavic 3. Geofencing, which alerts drone pilots when they fly near-critical regions, height limits, which ensure pilots are aware of altitude constraints, and the AeroScope Remote ID system, which allows authorities to identify and track airborne drones in sensitive areas, are just a few examples. The integrated AirSense sensor in the Mavic 3 informs drone operators of nearby airplanes and helicopters transmitting ADS-B signals, allowing them to immediately fly to a safer position.

Longer Flights With Extended Battery Life And Improved Aerodynamics

With the Phantom 4 and the original Mavic Pro, DJI set a new standard for drone endurance in 2016, with maximum flying periods reaching 30 minutes. New drone models have gradually improved such times over the years, thanks to modest advancements in in-flight technology. With the Mavic 3, DJI has redesigned every aspect of the drone’s flight envelope and power management, allowing for significantly longer flight periods – up to 46 minutes in perfect conditions – providing aerial photographers unprecedented freedom to capture dynamic situations.

DJI produced more energy-efficient motors and propellers, as well as a higher-capacity battery and a lighter drone construction and components. The arms, body and gimbal of the Mavic 3 were likewise streamlined using aerodynamic principles. According to wind tunnel tests, the Mavic 3 has 35% less drag than prior generations, allowing for faster top speeds.

Return Safely With Advanced RTH

For years, DJI’s Return To Home (RTH) system has improved the safety of DJI drones by automatically directing a drone back to its starting place if the battery runs out or the controller loses connectivity. The drone would fly high enough to clear any obstructions in its way, then return in a straight line and return to its starting location. The Mavic 3 updates and enhances this technique by allowing the aircraft to find the fastest, safest, and most energy-efficient path return to its home location automatically.

At the same time, the drone measures the present environment’s wind speed and calculates the power required to return home in real-time based on the wind speed and return path. This gives users additional time to fly safely before the RTH operation is triggered.

Signal Loss Prevention with DJI O3+

The DJI O3+ is an enhanced transmission technology that provides reliable, smooth, and clear video transmission even in difficult settings, such as while flying a drone in a signal-heavy environment. [5] O3+ enables Mavic 3 to fly further and delivers signals with improved stability and less video lag, giving the pilot greater peace of mind throughout flight. The Mavic 3 is DJI’s first drone with a 1080p/60fps live feed and High Frame-Rate Transmission. This indicates that the camera view is displayed at a resolution that is near to what the camera records. Mavic 3 is also more responsive to the pilot’s control thanks to O3+.

Intelligent Modes for Unlimited Possibilities

Mavic 3 introduces a new set of Intelligent modes for taking and editing stunning photographs and films, including new ways to manipulate the flight path and camera motions. MasterShots, Panorama mode, and QuickTransfer are just a few of the features that allow customers to get the most out of their drone.

  • Users may generate high-quality content more easily and rapidly with MasterShots.
  • Videos may be generated in minutes and shared immediately with friends after automatic editing and dubbing in the app.
  • Panorama Mode on the Mavic 3 allows users to record beautiful landscapes with sweeping width and deep detail without using the DJI Fly App or any post-production.
