How can I set a shortcut key in Fedora 26?( How can I set a shortcut key in Fedora 26 to launch Terminal ?)

As a new user to Fedora who is recently moved from ubuntu, I was expecting terminal application to start with ctrl + alt + t command just like I did in Ubuntu. But unfortunately that was not a default shortcut for fedora and starting terminal is not even considered in the disabled list of keyboard shortcuts in fedora. But it is very simple to add a customized shortcut in fedora and we can use that way to make a shortcut to open terminal without any problem.

Go to settings application and select keyboard under hardware section. A list of Keyboard shortcuts with enabled or disabled states will be shown in a window. Scroll down to the end of that list and you will see a plus sign at the end of the list. That button with plus ( + ) sign is for adding custom shortcuts in fedora Operating system.  When we click on that, A small window titled as “Add Custom Shortcut” will appear with small form to be filled (Figure 1).  First you have to give a name for the shortcut. Name that as “Terminal” or any preferred name you like. On the command section, type gnome-terminal. Then click on the “set shortcut” button and then click preferred shortcut key combination to set. (for me ctrl + alt + t is the key combination). Then click the add button in the top of the window.

Now you can see a new shortcut appears in the list of shortcuts under “Custom Shortcuts” category. Now you can try the shortcut you added with the keys you entered. This way you can add any custom shortcut in fedora. But you have to know a specific terminal code to execute any task you want to execute with those keys. To add any other shortcuts , follow the above procedure and just replace  gnome-terminal  code with any command you want as a shortcut used.
