Move Over, There’s a New Affordable Electric Skateboard in Town

For many a moon, since the days of generation 1 boards, when only a handful of DIY-ers and diehard enthusiasts rode around on these crazy things called Electric skateboards, there’s been a clear delineation between the premium expensive boards and the affordably priced “good enough” boards.

In the premium class are Boosted and Inboard, etc., and the king of the more affordable boards has been Yuneec E-Go.

Where Boosted and Inboard are in the $1500 range, Yuneec E-Go provided a solid product, albeit without the gadgetry, for $700 bucks.

Since these early days, we’ve seen a bunch of crowdfunding campaigns for new premium electric skateboards, but we haven’t seen much competition in the affordably priced sector.

That is… until now. Meet Juiced.

Juiced Electric Longboards: Low-Price, Very Nice

Juiced launched an Indiegogo campaign this month and has already exceeded their $50,000 goal by $25,000! That’s not bad.

Juiced’s Indiegogo page provides the following snippet, “We’ve designed the Juiced Electric Skateboard to be easy for beginners, powerful enough for the seasoned rider, and affordable for all. Offering single, and dual in hub motors, Juiced Boards can ride at a top speed of 20 mph for up to a 7-mile range.”

The electric skateboard is strikingly similar in appearance to the Boosted Board, with orange wheels, maple and bamboo flex deck (i.e., not painted or carbon fiber), and similar shape and size. You also have the option to go for a single motor or dual motor, just like Boosted, except the motors are in-wheel hubs instead of a belt driven system. But aesthetically, they are two peas in a pod.

And the best part is the boards are available starting at $399! That’s incredible! If Juiced lives up to its promises (which is a reasonably-sized “if”) then this board will likely render current “low-priced” boards meaningless, like Yuneec E-Go. After all, who would pay $700 for something they can get for $400?

Juiced Electric Longboard Product Specs

Okay, so we know Juiced electric longboards are cheap, powered by hub motors, and look like Boosted boards.

What else does this board have under the hood?

Well, before we jump into the specs, it’s only fair to note that Juiced advertises their board as an affordable no-frills alternative. So don’t get upset about the lack of LEDs and other gizmos.

Alrighty, let’s start with the basics. The Juiced board has a 20 mph max speed and a 7-mile range per charge. Not bad. Pretty much in line with Boosted and other major players in the industry. It can also scale hills with a 15% grade

It also features regenerative breaking, which in short, means the board charges itself when braking via kinetic energy created in process.

The Juiced electric longboard is also water-resistant (a claim Boosted no longer makes), powered by hand held remote, and features a USB port too. Lithium-ion batteries power the board and take 45 min to achieve full charge.

As previously mentioned, Juiced is available with a single or dual motor setup. All of the specs are the same for both, except for speed, weight, and braking power. The speed for the dual is 20 mph, while 17 mph for a single. The dual weights one pound more than the single at 13 lbs. The braking power difference is provided by Juiced in 5-star ratings. The dual gets 5 stars and the single gets 3.

So there you have it. That’s all we know so far. The electric longboards are set to ship in July. This one will definitely be worth a test ride. You could save yourself some serious cheese.
