Segway-Ninebot Introduces e-Scooters that Drive Themselves

What started with the advent of Bird eScooters in 2017 has become an engaging and flourishing domain.

Various companies have entered the eScooter market and users have openly welcomed the idea of replacing their traditional vehicles with these handy and super-cool vehicles. However, the growing number of accidents and the need to locate electric scooters and move to that location has always remained a major concern.

These incidents have continued to be a challenge for eScooter manufacturers and developers creating eScooter apps, in terms of delivering an enhanced experience to users and grow their business.

But, the situation is about to change now.

Segway-Ninebot, a reputed China’s scooter company, has come up with a perfect solution for these prevailing issues. They have recently launched a new eScooter, KickStarter T60 that drives on its own.

Meaning, the electric scooter would return itself to the charger stations, without any help from users.

Additionally, the scooter comes with a robust design and a third wheel to ensure lower falls and a safe ride. It can be controlled from Cloud, which can eventually lower down the cost of manufacturing and maintaining an electric scooter.

Above all, it has been introduced with various features that enhance users experience, including:-

  1. Users will no longer need to track scooters via map on their e-Scooter mobile app. They will be able to ‘call’ these scooters to their real-time location from their devices.
  2. These semi-autonomous e-Scooters will not remain confined to their distributed area. Rather, they will head towards high real-time demand areas. Giving users better commuting experience.
  3. Users will no longer have to ride the nearest eScooter. They can easily request for an electric scooter from their favorite eScooter manufacturing brand. Something that will reflect the fruits of the customer experience strategy these brands have invested their efforts into.

With all such features, Segway-Ninebot electric scooters are expected to prompt users towards an eco-friendly ride, and encourage developers to heighten their interest in eScooter app development.

“I believe scooters will replace bicycles as the prime solution for micro-mobility,” Gao lefung, the Ninebot chairman and chief executive, said. “It’s human nature to save energy when commuting.”

These eScooters will come with a higher price tag of $1,400 when compared to traditional ones with cost around $100-$300 only. They will be tested on roads somewhere around next month and will probably be made commercially available by the first quarter of 2020.

However, this depends entirely on whether any Ride-hailing company will make a hefty investment in this technology or not. It has been rumored that Uber – the brand that has recently added eScooter to its business– is looking ahead to add this model into their fleets, but nothing has been confirmed yet .

So, let’s wait and watch which brand will establish itself in the eScooter market via this semi-autonomous scooter and how users will react to this new ride.
