After capturing the other parts of the United States like Santa Monica, California, Washington, etc. it is the time for Edina to welcome the arrival of Dockless E-scooters in its land. And it is the San Mateo Calif-based company Lime, which has taken up the responsibility of micro-mobilizing Edina.
The Edina City Council passed a user agreement with Lime in March this year which discharged the city from any liability.
Lime will be working in Edina territory under a pilot program that would run till the end of the year – when the city officials would evaluate how the program went and will decide on whether or not to implement the program for the long term.
Under the Edina State law, Escooters can be driven wherever bikes are permitted, except for the sidewalks. The operation also includes that the e-scooters can be used on off-street bike and trails but not on trails meant for the pedestrians use.
Meanwhile, residents who want to ride e-scooters can simply download the Lime app from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The app will help users find and unlock the e scooters – the cost of which would be $1 and 15 cents per minute. Moreover, the app will also provide instructions and guidelines on how to end the ride along with the info on parking the eScooters.
The state at which eScooters’ adoption is rising across the world, there will soon come a time when micro-mobility will shift from being just a trend to going permanent-nature mainstream commutation choice.
