Application is now open for HIV Research Trust Scholarship 2018 /2019. The HIV Research Trust is a charitable foundation that provides financial support to physicians, nurses, scientists and other health care professionals in early/mid-career who are located in resource-limited settings from low-income and lower-middle-income countries working in the field of HIV infection.

The mission of the HIV Research Trust is to build capacity in HIV in low and lower-middle income countries by promoting study into the prevention and treatment of HIV infection to further the knowledge of early to mid-career healthcare professionals working in resource limited settings.

Scholarships are awarded annually following a competitive peer-review process and are designed to enable the candidate to travel to another research unit to learn skills and techniques which should develop the candidate’s career and, on return to the home institution, add to the capacity of the department to carry out research related to treatment and prevention.

Skills and Techniques to Acquired:

• Clinical management
• Clinical trial experience and practice
• Data and trial management
• Statistical expertise
• Acquisition of laboratory techniques and analysis
• Cell and molecular biology

General Eligibility

The scholarships are health care professionals in early/mid-career who are located in resource-limited settings from low-income and lower-middle-income countries working int eh field of HIV infection.

To be eligible for HIV Reasearch Trust Scholarship 2018, applicants should meet the following criteria;

• Applicant should be a physician, nurse, scientist or other health care professional working in HIV research.
• He/she should have an employing or affiliated institution.
• The employing or affiliated institution should be in a resource-limited setting
• Applicant should be in his/her early to mid career
• The HIV Research Trust’s applications are received annually between September and October and must commence during the following calendar year.

Application Process for HIV Research Trust Scholarship 2018/2019

Complete applications are assessed independently and judged by the quality of the proposal with respect to the science, training to be received and value of the programme to the home institution. Once this assessment has been made the successful scholars are chosen.
