New Game Releases: August 11th-17th, 2016

From Doom’s first DLC expansion, which adds maps, weapons, and equipment to the game’s multiplayer component to the re-release of a handful of Nintendo favorites, this week’s selection of new game releases extends a few notable offers. One trend that’s becoming increasingly common is the amount of attractive titles destined for PC, with No Man’s Sky, Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars, and Monsters and Monocles all making their way onto Steam.

Robert’s Pick: Beyond picking up the PC version of No Man’s Sky, I have my eye on an indie title, Masaya Takahashi’s Ambition of the Slimes. Drawing obvious inspiration from quintessential strategy role-playing games like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Tactics Ogre, the game’s gelatinous combats have one alluring advantage- if they slide down the throat of enemies they can take over their physical form. Originally released as a mobile title, Slimes could be worth your time if publisher Circle Entertainment removed the game’s largely superfluous in-app purchases.
