With a high-definition remake of Bulletstorm, a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Koozie franchise, and a melancholic puzzle platformer named A Rose in the Twilight, this week’s schedule of new game releases extends several promising titles. For those who haven’t been able to indulge in the Harvest Moon-like virtues of Stardew Valley, a retail release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One bundles the game with a gorgeous guidebook and map.

Robert’s Pick: Sure, the prospect of being a bike-riding magical girl who collects stardust in Vroom in the Night Sky is strangely alluring. But I won’t be able to give the quirky title preference over a puzzle/platformer that’s has me glued to my Vita Screen. Likely to draw comparison with htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, A Rose in the Twilight is a surprisingly bleak title manages to juxtapose feelings of fragility, beauty, and determination. With visuals that channel the loligoth fashion popularized in Harajuku’s Takeshita Street, I’m in awe of the sentiment created by Nippon Ichi’s latest effort.
