The New VAIO Z Laptops Are Colorful

VAIO has introduced a new range of mid-range Z Laptops that distinguish themselves by being “fashionable PCs.” The Z series’ main selling point is its bright two-tone colour options, including white and copper, navy and grey, yellow and black, and orange and khaki. The Vaio Z’s $1,499 starting price says it all: This is a premium ultraportable laptop. It is made of durable materials, has long battery life and its performance often surpasses that of rivals like the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

The Z can equip a display with resolution up to 2,560 x 1,440, and VAIO promise full reproduction of the sRGB color gamut. Though the screen showed sharp contrast and great detail, the display did not necessarily elicit the kind of eye-popping response you’d expect from a machine of this caliber.

As for its specs, the basic model has a 13.3-inch WQHD display, an Intel’s 6th generation 28W Skylake processor along with 8 gigabyte or 16 gigabyte of RAM and either a 256 gigabytes or 512 gigabytes SSD on a 2016 VAIO laptop.

On the outside, the design looks quite familiar, with a monochrome aluminum chassis, carbon fiber bottom and a keyboard layout which looks a lot like what Sony used to offer. The screen supports pen input, with the same pressure-sensitive pen that used on VAIO’s ‘Canvas’ Surface Pro competitor.

Speaking of the sort, the Z is said to last 11.5 hours on a charge. The Vaio Z may be thin and light, but it’s short on ports. The left side includes a headphone/mic jack , an HDMI-out port and an SD card slot, and the right side contains two USB 3.0 ports.
