Maruti Suzuki India Limited can introduce its most fuel-efficient model of iconic ‘Alto’ car near soon. The car may be launched with 660 cc turbocharged engine.
Surprisingly, the upcoming Maruti Alto 660cc car variant may deliver 30 KMCCPL mileage. According to news reports, the new model of Maruti Alto 2019 is rolling out by June or July this year.
The New Maruti Alto’s Look
Maruti has been focussing on increasing the mileage of its cars which has been its strength in the Indian car market. In such a scenario, the entry-level small car Alto will get an overhaul which has long been due.
The upcoming Maruti Alto is based on Future S concept which was showcased in last years AutoExpo. The compact crossover look-alike car will have an impressive mileage engine.
Maruti Alto 2019 engine
The upcoming next generation Alto will receive a 1.0L K10B type petrol engine. The engine accompanies the 5-speed manual and automatic transmission options.
The soon to be launched Alto will clock 24kmpl mileage in the city and 30 kmpl at the highways.
The engine in upcoming Maruti Alto 660cc car
There is speculation that car manufacturer may introduce new Alto in 660cc turbo-charged petrol engine. If this comes true then Alto will be the first entry-level small car with a turbo-charged engine in the segment.
Alto 660 engine will output 74PS of power at 6000RPM. It will produce 98 Nm torque at 3000 RPM. The fuel-efficient light-weight body platform based Alto car’s new model will be 60 Kg less heavy than its predecessors.
As per industry analysts, this 600cc version is replacing the existing 800cc variant. Not to forget, Maruti has already announced the phasing out of 800 cc variant.
Price of Alto 660
The ex-showroom price for the entry level of the Alto 660cc car might be 2.8Lakh. The top variant of Alto 660 might come with a price tag of 4.2 Lakh.
Advanced Safety features enabled
The new Generation Alto will comply with BS-6 engine emission norms.
According to new Government road safety rules effective from April 2019, all new cars need to be equipped with enhanced safety features. The features like ABS with EBD, driver side airbag, driver (co-driver) seat belt warning, high-speed warning, and rear parking sensors are made standard.
Now it has become mandatory for all automobile companies to provide these features on all models.
And so, these features have been included in the upcoming new Alto as well.
Launch Date Possibilities
As per new developments, Maruti may launch this new Alto in the first trimester of FY2019 by June. The new model Alto will get BS6 petrol engine.
The launch will not see an introduction of the diesel variant new Alto model as it is still probably under a development.
Maruti Alto has been the most favorite car among the Indian buyers. It is also the best selling car in India (2019) considering the fact that it has been No 1 in sales since the last 13 years. Maruti will try its best to consolidate its position with the new avatar of this car.
