RALEIGH, N.C. -- Myers Bigel, the largest independent patent law firm in the Carolinas, has added Lesley Pasman, Ph.D. to its talented legal team as a technical specialist. The addition of Dr. Pasman is the latest in a long line of professionals at Myers Bigel with strong scientific and technology backgrounds to assist clients in the development of quality patents to protect their intellectual property (IP). “Our Biotechnology practice group prides itself not only on patent prep and prosecution, but also on counseling clients on important issues affecting their companies and innovative technologies,” Myers Bigel Co-Managing Partner Jim Cannon said.


Dr. Pasman, who has a diverse research background in areas including immunology, microbiology, virology and molecular and cell biology, joins a Biotechnology group whose members boast advanced degrees and professional experience in areas like chemical engineering, biochemistry, plant physiology, microbiology, small molecule pharmaceuticals, polymers, pharmacology, and organic chemistry, among others.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Double Major Degree in Linguistics and Molecular and Cell Biology with honors from the University of California, Berkeley and her Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Immunobiology from Yale University. Her doctoral research focused on mammalian model organisms to study disease complications of bacterial and viral respiratory coinfections. Prior to joining Myers Bigel, Dr. Pasman conducted microbiome research as a National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School, focusing on the ability of human intestinal commensal bacteria to stimulate local and systemic immune responses.
