Long Fiber Injection Leader Shares Knowledge at Thermoset TOPCON, Contributes to Plastics Engineering Article

ROMEO, Mich. — Award-winning Romeo RIM (www.romeorim.com), the world’s innovative leader in custom reaction injection molding and composite solutions, recently contributed its extensive technical knowledge to two high-profile learning opportunities for manufacturing professionals. Business Development Manager Adam Ritchie led the popular seminar, “Long Fiber Injection Applications and Its Disruptive Fit in the World of Composites” at Thermoset TOPCON in Indianapolis, while members of the Romeo RIM engineering team contributed to the article “Composites Gain Ground in Agricultural Equipment” in the industry magazine Plastics Engineering.
Ritchie’s presentation shed light on how the unique combination of strength, stiffness, and light weight of the long fiber injection (LFI) process is being used to replace a number of materials in many applications and markets. His session on LFI was one of only a handful of technical topics selected for TOPCON which also included reclaimed carbon fiber, natural fiber composites, thermoset composites, unsaturated polyester resin formulations and Dielectric Analysis.

Organized by the Society of Plastics Engineers, the annual Thermoset TOPCON event connects all members of the thermoset material supply chain, from makers of additives and chemicals, to resin and reinforcement suppliers, compounders, processors and OEMs. It is the onlyU.S. gathering dedicated entirely to thermoset resins.

For the article published in the February issue of Plastics Engineering, Romeo RIM shared technical information on how composites and reinforced plastics are being used by agricultural equipment OEMs needing strong, massive parts at low weights. To meet customer demand, the article points out, Romeo RIM installed North America's largest rotary LFI press to mold parts like tractor roof panels and knotter shields. "The system can mold up to seven different parts in six different colors at the same time, reducing the effective cycle time from 10 minutes/part to under two minutes," the article explains.

Romeo RIM continues to invest in cutting-edge technology and a strong, talented workforce to solve complex engineering challenges across a wide range of industries. Design collaboration, guest engineering, prototype parts and tooling, and production manufacturing are some of the services the company provides.

Romeo RIM is a proud member of the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI).
