Legendary Premier League Stars

We all know who the main stars in Premier League history are but then there were these players who left a deep mark while playing in the elite tier of English football without breaking any records necessarily. We are talking about the players that drove fans crazy for both positive and negative reasons, the players who have certainly added to the league’s glamour in their specific ways.

We have decided to dedicate an article to this type of players, selecting the most extravagant Premier League Stars who left huge stamps with their behavior both on and off the football pitch. We have used the extensive data provided by the football experts at betting tips 4 you website.

Craig Bellamy

We will start the list with the Welsh forward who earned his bread by defending the colours of some of the most famous UK teams such as West Ham, Celtic, Manchester City, and Liverpool. His name is Craig Bellamy. During his time in Liverpool, Bellamy hit his teammate John Arne-Riise with a golf stick. We also know him for his big fight (verbal) with Roberto Mancini during his era at Manchester City. Craig always had something to say to referees and Robson once labeled him as the only guy who could have initiated a fight with himself.

Mario Balotelli

Super Mario spent only two and a half years at Manchester City but he did not need more time to produce numerous controversial moments before returning to Serie A to play for AC Milan in January 2013. Balotelli somehow managed to earn four red cards in two and a half years at City. He even went into a fight with coach Roberto Mancini despite the fact he was his compatriot and they were both in a foreign country. We will never forget the fireworks that put his own bathroom on fire just the day before the big city derby against Manchester United. Of course, Super Mario found the back of the net in a demolishing 6-1 victory over bitter city rivals, celebrating the goal by showing a t-shirt that had “Why Always Me” written on it.

Paolo Di Canio

Speaking of legendary Italians, we have to mention Paolo Di Canio who will always be remembered as one of the most talented players to have ever featured in the Premier League. Paolo is the best proof of a good old statement that says “it is a thin line between a genius and a crazy man”. We remember how he pushed referee Paul Alcock during his period at Sheffield Wednesday. He served a huge 11-game ban for it before moving to West Ham and later Charlton.

Joey Barton

Barton is still an active player, currently playing for Bristol Rovers in League One. However, Premier League fans will remember him for bountiful incidents such as the one when he threw a cigarette into Jamie Tandy’s eye during a brawl at a Christmas party. He was also violent towards teammate Ousmane Dabo as well as Morten Gamst Pedersen. Last but not least, we will also never forget the final day of the 2011/12 campaign when Barton went on an entire Manchester City team as a QPR player.

Eric Cantona

What kind of a “legendary Premier League players” article would it be without Eric Cantona? The Frenchman is still widely considered the most iconic player to have ever been in the top tier of English football. Unlike some of the players listed above, Canton was a proper genius on the pitch. Unfortunately, we will remember him more for some bad things he has done both on and off the pitch. Eric even left his country in an attempt to escape from the controversies that surrounded his name. One of his most memorable moments occurred in 1995 when Cantona kicked a Crystal Palace fan after being insulted.

Roy Keane

We will stay at Old Trafford and mention another intimidating midfielder that wore Man United’s shirt exactly one generation after Cantona. He is Roy Keane, an Irishman who did not fear anyone. The current Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland probably has another motive to do well against United knowing that Roy Keane caused his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, a tough knee injury with a well-prepared and thought (and terrible obviously) tackle,

Luis Suarez

Last but not least, Luis Suarez had to find his place on the list. He spent two and a half beautiful years at Anfield, scoring 82 goals in 113 outings for Liverpool. However, the rivals did not just hate him because of the goals he scored but also because of the controversies he has constantly caused on the pitch. The famous “handshake” between him and Patrice Evra has even increased the hatred between Manchester United and Liverpool. Good performances in the Reds’ shirt secured Luis a move to Barcelona where he went on to win pretty much everything alongside his best friend Lionel Messi.
