Know the Penalty Takers in Every Premier League Team for FPL Success

Penalties are an important aspect of the game, when a player wins a Penalty, they feel a similar ecstasy to that of scoring a goal as it is a golden opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net from just 12 yards out but quite often these penalties can go wrong as well such as John terry’s vs Manchester United.

In FPL, it is crucial to select a player who is on penalties as it allows the player and you to receive an easy 3, 4 or even 5 points, depending on the players position if he is a Forward, Midfielder or Defender but if a mishap takes place and the taker misses a penalty you receive -2 points regardless of the player’s position.

Here are Every Premier League team’s penalty takers:

Arsenal: The Gunners’ penalty taker is young Englishman Bukayo Saka. Saka in his young career has only taken 8 penalties and missed twice, infamously putting one wide against West Ham in a must win game for Arsenal.

Despite that, Arteta has put faith in the young star and continued him as his number 1 choice for spot kicks. Saka is priced at 8.5M and is the second highest selected player in FPL and him being on penalty duties can prove to be a great boost for your FPL side.

Manchester City: The 22/23 Premier League champions were ridden with a penalty crisis of sorts in recent seasons as Pep Guardiola tried several players such as KDB, Mahrez and Sterling but none of them provided the Spanish coach with Confidence in their spot kick taking ability.

This was until the arrival of Erling Haaland who automatically became their penalty taker since last season. The Norwegian netted 8 penalties for the blues last season and 7 of them came in the Premier League. He has had a 100% conversion rate for City and is quite reliable when it comes to slotting one away from 12 yards out. Haaland is priced at 14.0M, making him the most expensive asset in the game.

Liverpool: The Egyptian King takes penalties for the Reds from Merseyside. Salah had quite a brilliant hold on penalties for Liverpool as the winger has taken 29 penalties for the club and scored 24 of them, which is success rate of 83% which makes him almost a guarantee from the spot but his recent attempts have caused some worries as he only managed to convert 4 out of the 6 penalties he took last season which puts him at a much lower conversion rate of 66%. Salah is priced at 12.5M

Tottenham: Harry Kane is the outright number 1 penalty taker for Spurs and rightfully so as the English striker is known to be quite lethal from the spot blasting his attempts past the keeper on his left usually but if the player’s rumored move to Bayern Munich goes through it would see a shift in penalty taking duties and the two names that come up are Heung-Min Son and Richarlison. The Brazilian however, has a clear advantage over Son as he has never missed a penalty in the Prem, scoring 4 during his time at Everton.

Manchester United: The penalty taker for the red devils is midfielder and newly made captain, Bruno Fernandes who has an impeccable record from 12 yards out for Manchester United. Since his transfer from Sporting CP in 19/20, he has taken 28 penalties, converting 25 of them which is a conversion rate of 89% making him almost a guaranteed scorer from the spot. Fernandes is priced at 8.5M.

Aston Villa: Villa had a stellar turnaround season after Unai Emery took charge of the Two-time Champions League winners. However, there were some issues as Ollie Watkins only had a 50% penalty conversion rate as he scored one and missed one against Everton and Liverpool respectively but since the sample size of the penalties is quite low to determine Watkins’ effectiveness, next season will be quite the eye opener. Watkins is priced at 8.0M.

Brentford: Brentford find themselves in a bizarre situation as their talisman and go to spot kick taker, Ivan Toney Faces a 4 month ban due to breaching of FA betting rules, in his absence the most likely penalty taker will be Mbeumo, who has taken 3 penalties for the club and never missed a single one. Mbeumo is priced at 6.5M.

Chelsea: Christopher Nkunku will be most likely be the penalty taker for the blues this season, however, the Frenchman will be out for close to 6 weeks as he sustained an injury in a preseason game against Borussia Dortmund.

Nkunku has scored 6 penalties in his professional career, missing just one. Chelsea’s past penalty takers in Havertz and Jorginho have left the club to join London rivals, Arsenal. Nkunku is priced at 7.5M in the game. In his absence, Nickolas Jackson looks the most likely option from the spot.

Brighton: The Seagulls look an amazing outfit under Roberto De Zerbi’s charge. Brighton had an outright penalty specialist in Alexis Mac Allister, but over the summer, the Argentine midfielder chose to take his talents to Liverpool. Pascal Gros has a history of taking penalties for the Seagulls but in their pre-season game against Chelsea and Vallecano, it was new signing Joao Pedro who took the spot kicks and converted both of them, while Grob was on the pitch. Pedro is priced at 5.5M and could be a major asset as he is a confirmed starter and most likely to be on penalty duty.

Crystal Palace: The eagles have lost their primary penalty taker as club Legend, Wilfried Zaha transferred out of the club to join Turkish side, Galatasaray for a free. Unfortunately, the eagles didn’t receive a single penalty in preseason which would clarify the penalty situation and it looks like the issue won’t be solved until they are awarded one in the season. Eberechi Eze however looks to be the most likely taker, he is priced at 6.5M.

Newcastle United: Newcastle have been one of the standout performers of last season, finishing 4th under Eddie Howe’s management. The Magpies have an outright penalty taker in Callum Wilson. who scored all 3 of the penalties that he took for the club, but the striker has faced a number of injury issues which only allowed him to start in 21 games in the league last season. In his absence, Alexander Isak tucked away his 2 attempts from the spot kick. Wilson is priced at 8.0M and Isak is priced at 7.5M.

AFC Bournemouth: The cherries, to every single pundit and footy content creators surprise managed to stay afloat in the Premier League, finishing 15th and a comfortable, 5 points above relegation. Bournemouth did not receive a single penalty last season, but striker Dominic Solanke is the designated spot kick taker as he scored 4 penalties for the 21/22 season, only missing one. Solanke is priced at 6.5M.

West Ham: West Ham had a disappointing 22/23 under David Moyes as they only managed to finish 14th, 6 points above relegation but made history as they won the UEFA Conference League. In the early stages of last season, Jarrod Bowen was the number 1 choice for penalties but his miss against Liverpool saw a shift in spot kick taking duties and in the very next game, up stepped Said Benrahma, who scored all 4 of his attempts going forward, in the league. Benrahma is registered as a midfielder in the game and priced at 6.0M

Nottingham Forest: The Tricky Trees had a disappointing season despite making the most signings out of any club in the division, finishing 16th with just 38 points. A major issue for Forest was their poor penalty conversion as they only managed to convert 3 out of the 6 penalties they were awarded.

Brennan Johnson took 3 penalties only converting one but toward the second half of the season, Morgan Gibbs-White stepped up and converted both the penalties he attempted and looks the most likely outfit for spot kicks.

Fulham: Fulham managed to make their way into the top half of the table, finishing 10th with 52 points. Marco Silva’s preferred choice for penalties is talismanic striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic who had a nightmare from the spot as he only managed to convert 4 out of the 8 penalties he was awarded. Mitrovic is priced at 7.5M.

Wolves: Wolves had a dip in performance as they dropped three positions, finishing 13th last season with 41 points. Their go to penalty taker was midfielder Ruben Neves who converted all three of the penalties they were awarded last campaign, but the Portuguese saw himself out of the club as he transferred to Saudi club Al Hilal. Striker Matheus Cunha is set to be the first-choice penalty taker as he slotted one away in preseason against Scottish Champions, Celtic.

Everton: Everton were a part of a cutthroat relegation battle heading into the last fixture of the season, and they managed to steer clear from relegation thanks to a strike from Abdoulaye Doucoure o win them 3 crucial points. Calvert-Lewin has been the preferred spot kick taker for Everton, but his injury issues saw Demarai Gray step up and take penalties. He managed to convert both the spot kicks he was awarded, having a 100% conversion rate. It is important to note both of Gray’s attempt came when Calvert-Lewin was injured or not on the pitch. Calvert-Lewin is priced at 6.0M whereas, Gray is priced at 5.5M.

Burnley: Burnley had a record breaking 22/23 as they became Champions of the second division scoring 101 points out of a possible 138 in the Championship. Penalty duties were shared by Ashley Barnes and Jay Rodriguez. It is most likely that Jay Rodriguez will be the number one choice for penalties, but his age and minutes can be a dilemma for managers. He is priced at 5.5M.

Luton Town: Luton Town managed to secure promotion to the Premier League in dramatic fashion as they defeated Coventry City 6-5 on penalties. Their number one choice for spot kicks is set to be Carlton Morris who also scored a penalty in the shootout. He is priced at 5.5M and registered as a forward.

Sheffield United: Sheffield United made their way back to the premier league as they finished 2nd in the Championship with 91 points, receiving direct promotion. However, they had a major issue with spot kicks as they failed to score even 1 out of the 2, they were awarded. Midfielder Oliver Norwood looks the most likely outfit to take penalties, he is priced at 5.0M.
