A picture of the Leeds United away kit for the 2023-24 season has been made available online.

The kit features dark Blue and turquoise peacock feathers all over the front and sleeves.

Instead of the usual yellow, blue, and white, the club badge is featured with the same color combination.

The Whites were also known as the Peacocks in the past, with the bird being a prominent part of their badge between the years 1981 and 1984.

It is postulated that one of the reasons behind that nickname was the pub that then stood opposite Elland Road being called the Old Peacock.

Moreover, the club’s first colors were royal blue and yellow, which could also have played a part in that choice, before Don Revie enforced the change to an all-white kit in 1962.

Currently, even within the club, the old nickname the Peacocks is considered obsolete.

There was talk of resurrecting that nickname with the 49ers Enterprises recently assuming full ownership of the club.

The kit was seen being sold, well before its scheduled release date of August 4, at the JD Sport store at Thorpe Park.

Though eye-catching, the kit will likely pose a dilemma when Leeds travel to Hillsborough Stadium to take on their Yorkshire rivals in newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday, as one response to the image pointed out.

The hope is that the third kit could potentially act as a solution to that problem, with the Owls’ primary colors being blue and white.

Daniel Farke’s side recently finished their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 win over Scottish side Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle Park.

Much-maligned right-back Luke Ayling scored the solitary goal in the first half a little after Georginio Rutter was forced off injured.

The Whites will open their Championship campaign at Elland Road against Cardiff City on August 6.

Their first-team squad has seen very few additions so far this summer, with Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow the only ones arriving.

There may yet be more departures with five established first-team stars opting to go out on loan instead of playing in the second tier of English football.

Youngsters Archie Gray, Joe Gelhardt, and Ian Poveda have all received plenty of minutes during pre-season and are expected to continue that upward trajectory this campaign.

Farke has achieved promotion to the Premier League twice before, with Norwich City, and will hope to do so once again.
