Explaining the beef between Dejan Kulusevski and Italian journo Carlo Garganese

If there is one thing among all other things that are inevitable in the world of football is the constant banter and digs that the people of media continue to make against players, managers, coaching staff, and the Presidents of the clubs to name a few. They can be your most powerful ally and your biggest nightmare depending on what you do or how you do things.

Unfortunately, Tottenham Hotspur’s January signing Dejan Kulusevski has been on the receiving end of an Italian journalist’s wrath. And that journalist is Carlo Garganese.

Coming from Juventus to Spurs was a dramatic shift for the Swedish player who had to adapt to the blistering pace and rigidity of the Premier League. Despite all the odds, Kulusevski flourished under Antonio Conte, racking up 13 goals/assists in 18 matches in the league.

Many have touted him as the signing of the winter transfer window, but only after Liverpool’s Luis Diaz. But the 22-year-old has been in solid contention to be one of the regular starters for the Spurs in the upcoming season.

Too bad for Carlo, who spoke a little too early when he tweeted back in February about Kulusevski’s lack of physical strength and abilities to beat his man. The Italian journalist also took a dig at another Spurs player, Rodrigo Bentancur, blaming him for losing the ball too easily in the game. This was over two months ago and if we pull back the clock to right now, Kulusevski has proved that he’s worth every penny.

The ex-Juventus man has the support of Spurs fans who are already hailing him as a star who played a vital role in securing a Champions League spot for them in the next season.

Even though Kulusevski is on loan, Spurs have an option to buy and given his performances, he might soon be a done deal. But for now, Kulusevski is dwelling in his role at Spurs and posted a video on his Instagram, taking a jibe at the spiteful journalist Carlo, showing him what all he had done for the Whites since his arrival.

The small clip, which also features Fabrizio Romano, involves Carlo’s tweet degrading him and then follows a spring of high octane moves and skills showcasing Kulusevski in action.

After seeing Kulusevski’s post, Carlo was furious but maintained his stand. He still believes that Kulusevski doesn’t beat his man anyway and nothing can change his mind.

Well, it sure looks like the beef between the two isn’t over, but given Kulusevski’s charge in the latter half of the season, he is the one administering the uppercut to Carlo.
