However, this international break luckily coincided with an event that, just like the FIFA World Cup, draws international attention.

We’re talking about the Academy Awards ceremony conducted last night, an occasion used to celebrate the world of cinema.

Aside from all winners and nominees, one moment stood out and is perhaps the most talked-about Oscar moment in recent history.

It involved comedian Chris Rock, who was the host of the event and superstar Will Smith. 

The latter took offence at a joke aimed at his wife Jada Pinkett Smith by Rock, after which he went up on the stage, slapped the comedian and simply walked off.
