Alan Pardew’s West Brom managed to keep Liverpool’s ‘fabulous quartet’ at bay as they somehow held off the Merseyside club to a goalless draw at Anfield.
Liverpool were favorites going into the game with Klopp fielding a strong attacking lineup to put in a strong performance after the disappointing draw with Everton, but found themselves denied time and time again by a resolute West Brom defence.
The Reds finally looked to have secured all 3 points in the 82nd minute as Dominic Solanke fired the ball into the net past Foster.
However, referee Paul Tierney disallowed Solanke’s goal, with replays showing the ball hitting the young forward’s arm as he looked to bring it under control after Jonny Evans managed to deflect an incoming cross.
The decision did not bode well with Liverpool players who openly confronted the officials regarding the decision which led to a messy tussle with West Brom players getting involved in the action as well.
The controversy did not die down even after the full time whistle with Jurgen Klopp expressing his disappointment with the officiating for the second time running following the late penalty awarded to Everton during the Merseyside derby.
