Philippe Coutinho made a miraculous recovery from a “back problem” to feature for Brazil in their victory against Ecuador on Friday. Having been under constant speculation of leaving Merseyside this summer, the Liverpool number 10 came on as a substitute for the Selecao.
The Reds have always been bullish about their chances to hold on to the playmaker whereas the Catalan club left no stone unturned in their attempts to lure the player this summer.
The two contrasting ideologies were on full display during the World Cup Qualifier between Brazil and Ecuador, as both Liverpool and Barcelona Fans were spotted with banners for the Brazilian.
While the Liverpool contingent urged the Brazilian to honour his current team with a “stay Coutinho” poster, the Barcelona fan had a “welcome Coutinho” banner.
