Once hailed as one of Europe’s finest goalkeepers, its safe to say Wojciech Szczesny’s career hasn’t quite gone the projected trajectory. After being usurped as Arsenal’s no.1 following the arrival of Peter Cech , the Polish Shot Stopper made the move to Seria A giants AS Roma on loan in the summer 2015.

Szczesny’s career has since undergone a revival of sorts in Italy with the goalie putting together a string of wonderful performances in his two seasons at Roma.

The shot stopper was phenomenal again in Roma’s opening fixture for 2017 against Genoa. In a ground where sides such as Juventus and AC Milan had fallen already, Roma put in a gritty display to start the new year with all three points.

Szczesny in particular played a big part in ensuring that Roma walked home with victory by pulling off a spectacular save to deny Ocampos in extra time.
