Illini Football Adds Bob Ligashesky as Special Teams Coordinator/ Tight Ends Coach

Lovie reached into the NFL coaching pool and pulled out another. This time, he has hired Bob Ligashesky as Illini football‘s newest Special Teams coordinator/tight ends coach.

Bob was most recently with the Houston Texans, where he spent three seasons as the special teams coordinator. He was set free this year by the Texans soon after getting blown out in the AFC wild-card game by the Kansas City Chiefs. I watched that game and it was TERRIBLE (and it wasn’t his fault – Texans’ QB, Brian Hoyer, threw 4 interceptions and fumbled twice.)

He stayed in the college game until 1999, when he moved on to the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers as tight ends & special teams coach. Basically, Bob has been a special teams specialist for the better part of 26 years. He has experience.
