Custom Battle Patches

Anatomy of a Battlepatch:

Battle patches are generally 2 x 4 in size, although we do offer Battle Patches in different sizes from 2 x 3, to 2.1/4 x 3 3/4 to the standard sized 2 x 4.  We also offer different styles of battle patches too - there are some with 6 places for information and a spot in the middle for an icon, and some offer two places for your information and a larger icon to the left, and also the "simple" style of Battle Patch Pictured above.    The information on the battle patch pictured above is standard information:  your name or callsign, blood type and allergy.  Of course the way we are here at OMLpatches.com you do not have to stick to the standard information - you have the space to fill in any way that you want - we have seen quite a few variations to this idea - nickname of the group and the date are good examples.  The only think that you have to be aware of when you design your patch is the space available for the lettering.  Online typed or illustrations, embroidery has some rules that we have to stick to - and one of those embroidery rules is that you can only make lettering so small before it becomes unreadable - and there is no point having a battle patch that you can't read, right?  So for the patch example above, you have lots of room for the name or callsign - the OML Patches above takes up 12 spaces and fits properly into the patch, and you can see that it reads clearly - so that area is pretty open for longer or larger words to be entered.  The bottom two spaces have a little more of a limitation - if you add too many words or longer words and there are too many letters, we will have to make the lettering smaller to fit into less than 1/2 of the patch - there needs to be space between the blood type area and the allergy area - if they are too close, then the overall standard look of the patch is changed, and it doesn't look like a battle patch anymore!  So if you are not sticking to the standard elements to design your patch, then bear in mind that there are space issues and don't try and "write a book" when you design your patch!

If you have any questions regarding the space available and what you want to work with, then let us know and we will make sure the lettering fits on your patch before you order.
