Anthony Martial’s strike in Manchester United’s 1-0 win against Everton was the Red Devils’ 1,000th Premier League goal at Old Trafford.

United become the first side to achieve the feat, with Arsenal on 912 and Chelsea on 896 their two nearest rivals. Liverpool are fourth on 868 while Manchester City are way back in eighth in 636.

The landmark has been reached in 458 matches since 1992 when Denis Irwin opened United’s Premier League account in a 1-1 draw with Ipswich.

Wayne Rooney is top goalscorer in that period with 99, while Paul Scholes (59), Cristiano Ronaldo (57), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (53), Andy Cole and Ryan Giggs (49), Ruud van Nistelrooy (48) and Eric Cantona (37) have also made considerable contributions.

Ryan Giggs has assisted the most times, laying on 93 goals for team-mates. Wayne Rooney (54), David Beckham (44) and Paul Scholes and Eric Cantona (32) are also notable here.

Of the 1,000 goals 573 have come from open play, 56 from penalties, 34 from own goals and 33 from penalties.

Aston Villa have been on the receiving end of 50 goals at Old Trafford, with Tottenham and Everton both conceding 49. Impressively United have managed 40 against Liverpool and Arsenal and 34 against Manchester City.
