Manchester United 16/17 Home Jersey

Manchester United and adidas launched the 2016/17 home kit, taking inspiration from the club’s early years as Newton Heath Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Football Club.  In the second year of their partnership with Manchester United, adidas has taken cues from the club’s illustrious history, with a two-tone design evoking the Newton Heath kit of 1878.

The official coat of arms for the City of Manchester was the basis for the inclusion of the honeycomb graphic that knits together the two red block designs on the shirt. It was inspired by the worker bee which appears in the city’s crest and originates from the Industrial Revolution, in which Manchester played a crucial role. The strong work ethic of the city is engrained in the club’s DNA, and instilled in the players whenever they pull on the home kit.

As always, the Jersey features a Manchester United FC heat-applied crest on left chest.

Engineered ‘MUFC’ wording on the back neck insert appears on this season’s kit.

Man U’s 16/17 home jersey is part of the adidas sustainable product program and made from recycled polyester in order to save resources and decrease emissions. The fabric used in the jersey features adizero engineering, offering lightweight comfort and breathability during play.
