Innovation Update: Puma evoTOUCH

Puma evoTOUCH

evoTouch evolved from the ideas of barefoot play first explored with Puma’s evoPower. The shoe is built around 360° Touch, and the combination of tech is focused on creating an innovative and natural sensation between the Foot, the shoe, the ball, and the ground. It is designed to allow for the most sensitivity and feeling through the duration of a match. The evoTouch player is a creative playmaker, perhaps a midfielder or a number 10. Someone who is controlling the pace and shape of the game. Think Fabregas of Chelsea or Santi Cazorla of Arsenal.

EVOKNIT SOCK

The most striking innovation from Puma is the introduction of the evoKnit Sock. It gives the boot a sleek, modern mid-cut look, and plays an important functional role with how the boot fits and feels. The sock lines the whole of the inside of the boot. It is independent of the leather vamp and wraps the entire foot down to the toes, even around the sole of the foot. This provides a true one-to-one fit, the boot can even be worn without a sock or insole. This reduces the amount of material between the foot and the ball, increasing touch and sensation. In a unique application of their GripTex technology previously seen only on the upper, small tactile arrows line the heel and footbed, providing multidirectional grip and a reassuring fit.

K-LEATHER UPPER

Wrapping around and covering the evoKnit sock is a premium kangaroo leather upper. This super soft and supple leather provides a natural and intuitive touch. The benefits of k-leather include not only its softness, which allows for a shorter break-in period, but also its thinness and ability to stretch and take to the shape of the player’s foot, providing a feel almost as a second skin.

OUTSOLE AND TOOLING

One of the reasons the evoTouch Pro weighs in at an impressive 212g is the lightweight soleplate. Made of Pebax, it provides flex where you need it in the forefoot, and Puma’s TPU SpeedTrack spine delivers torsional stability through the midfoot and heel. The tooling features conical studs which allow for rotational freedom and quick ground penetration and release. They are built for firm natural surfaces, but are suitable for most of the AG fields in NYC and the surrounding area.
