PHILADELPHIA - The Phillies can close out the National League Championship Series at Citizens Bank Park on Monday with a victory over the Diamondbacks. 

A win will clinch the ninth NL pennant in franchise history and mark just the second time the club will have reached the World Series in back-to-back seasons, the first time coming in 2008 and 2009.

"Whenever you're in the playoffs, this isn't easy," Kyle Schwarber said prior to Game 5 in Phoenix. "There's going to be a lot of different scenarios that are going to be thrown your way when you're in a Postseason series. It's never going to be easy to navigate through it, but at the end of the day you're just trying to win a series however you can." 

The Phillies will turn to Aaron Nola in Game 6. He's been outstanding this postseason, surrendering just two runs over 18 2/3 innings. He tossed six scoreless frames in Game 2, a 10-0 victory. 

Perhaps even more astounding is in Nola's last four outings when the Phillies could clinch a postseason berth or a series, he's 3-0 with a 0.33 ERA. 

"I've tried pretty much my whole career to understand that and to know that is out of my control," Nola said. "Baseball is baseball. Sometimes you make a pitch, and you get a bloop hit that scores a run. Sometimes you throw a pitch down the middle, and they pop it up. You just never know with this game. That's why it's so beautiful. But the only thing I can control is the controllables. So that's kind of what I always think about and focus on in my routine leading up to a start, which kind of keeps me focused."

The Diamondbacks will rely on righty Merrill Kelly in Game 6. He took the loss in Game 2, surrendering four earned runs over 5 2/3 innings. He walked three and surrendered three homers.

Craig Kimbrel has had a rough NLCS, so manager Rob Thomson is looking to limit his use, if possible.

"Well, it's not necessarily going to be a late inning situation," Thomson said, speaking on Monday about his potential usage of Kimbrel. "So we'll see how the game works out. I would like to give him a little bit of a breather. Not necessarily not pitch him, but just give him a little lower leverage situation. But I trust Craig, and we wouldn't be sitting here probably if we didn't have him, especially when  [Jose] Alvarado was down for that time. So I think the stuff is still there. It's just he's got to throw strikes and power the ball through the zone."

Over 11 postseason games this year, the Phillies starting rotation has combined to go 7-0 with a 1.48 ERA and a 0.74 WHIP. Of the 235 starting rotations that have tossed at least 40 innings in a single postseason, the Phillies ERA ranks 12th and is the best since the 1965 Dodgers posted a 1.27 ERA. 

The Phillies enter Game 6 of the NLCS with a +36 run differential this postseason, the third best mark in MLB postseason history behind only the 2007 Red Sox (+57) and 1996 Braves (+39).
