Flush it. 

It's a statement that was regularly said last year in the Phillies' clubhouse, particularly after tough losses or lousy performances. 

Brandon Marsh uttered it again on Monday night, reflecting on how the Phillies bounced back to take a 7-5 victory over the Braves in the nightcap of a doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies lost Game 1 earlier in the day, 10-8. 

Marsh finished 0-for-3 in the first game with three strikeouts but delivered a solo shot for his 10th homer of the season in the fifth Inning of Game 2. The blast pushed the Phillies to a 5-3 advantage.

"Flush it and keep going, that's all you can do," Marsh said. "This game is hard. You've got dudes throwing 100mph with bangers at 90mph." 

The Phillies jumped ahead early in the nightcap, putting up four runs in the opening frame while sending nine hitters to the plate. Edmundo Sosa delivered the highlight of the inning with a two-run double. He finished with two hits in the win. 

Trea Turner remained hot, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI-double in the fourth. His on-base streak now sits at a team-best 22 games this season. Jake Cave delivered an RBI-triple in the fourth for his 100th career extra base hit. 

Michael Lorenzen was rocky at the outset but pitched out of a jam in the first inning before settling down. He surrendered four runs on five hits to secure the win. He walked two and whiffed three. Three of those runs came via a three-run blast by slugger Matt Olson in the third inning. Olson finished with a pair of homers in the contest, becoming just the second player in Braves history to hit 50 homers in a single season. 

"I'd like to a see a few more first pitch strikes, but other than that, if you take Olson out of the game, then [Lorenzen's] line looks pretty good," said manager Rob Thomson. 

Thomson was happy his club didn't sit idle after taking a four-run lead in the first. 

"We've gone through stretches this year where we've gotten a lead early and didn't tack on," Thomson said. "Lately, we seem to be doing a pretty good job of that; just keep having good at-bats and moving through the lineup and eventually you are going to score some runs." 

Thomson wasn't definitive, but it appears the club will readjust the starting rotation and revert back to a traditional five-man staff. "I would think so," Thomson said when asked if the six-man rotation was coming to an end. "That's not 100-percent, but it all depends on how guys feel and how [Cristopher] Sanchez comes out of his start on [Wednesday]. If the six-man rotation comes to a halt, it'll be Sanchez or Lorenzen moving to a bullpen role. 

Two of the best pitchers in the National League will face each other on Tuesday as lefty Max Fried (7-1, 2.70) takes the mound for the Braves against righty Zack Wheeler (11-6, 3.46). First pitch is set for 6:40pm at Citizens Bank Park.
