The Phillies acquired outfielder Corey Dickerson from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday afternoon, multiple sources confirmed to The Review.
Dickerson, 30, is hitting .300 with four homers and 25 RBIs this season, though he's only played in 43 games as he's spent time on the Injured List dealing with a shoulder strain.
He provides the Phillies with a left-handed bat that can either start in left field in a platoon situation with Jay Bruce or as a much-needed upgrade to the bench.
The addition of Dickerson allows the Phillies to move Adam Haseley to center field and Scott Kingery to third base, leaving Maikel Franco relegated to the bench.
In exchange for Dickerson, the club is sending international signing bonus money and a player to be named later to the Pirates. Dickerson is owed just under $3 million and is a free agent at the end of this season.
To make room for Dickerson on the 40-man roster the club designated Dylan Cozens for assignment.
