Exclusive: The Proposed Super Eagles XI As Rohr Switches To 3-5-2

Head coach Gernot Rohr looks set to alter the formation of the Super Eagles in order to cover for the missing players and also cancel out the Bafana Bafana.

With Ndidi, Ighalo, Uzoho and Abdullahi missing/suspended, Rohr is favoring a 3-5-2 formation. This is based on the last training session in Asaba.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa was selected in goal as replacement for the injured first choice stopper Francis Uzoho, a decision which was arrived at after a meeting of the technical crew. Prior to that time Daniel Akpeyi was given the nod to start.
Coach Gernot Rohr has lined up the trio of Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong as his three center back with Balogun and Omeruo playing as right and left sided centre backs respectively. Ekong will play as the man in the middle of the defence.

Bordeaux forward Samuel Kalu will operate as a right wing-back while ‎Paderborn left full back Jamilu Collins has been moved a little further up the pitch to play as a left wing back.

In midfield John Ogu will play very close to the defence line to provide shield after winning the battle to replace the suspended Wilfred Ndidi in midfield, while Oghenekaro Etebo will be slightly ahead of him with Alex Iwobi the farthest from the Eagles half among the centre midfield trio.

Kelechi Iheanacho will play behind Ahmed Musa in attack as the Eagles go for a win to book their place at next year Africa Cup of Nations and also avenge the 0-2 loss they suffered at home against South Africa in the reverse tie.
