Adebayor's First Goal Not Enough For Palace As Watford Record Away Win

Troy Deeney scored two goals for Watford as they recorded a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park with Adebayor recording his first goal for the Eagles.

Emmanuel Adebayor ended a 16-month goal drought with a trademark header just before half-time but Crystal Palace's new talisman was cruelly upstaged as Troy Deeney struck twice to end Watford's lean run.

Deeney slotted home from the penalty spot to give the visitors, who had arrived on a sequence of one win in eight, an early lead, then pounced late on with his ninth goal of the campaign to ensure all three points.

Deeney's double overshadowed a landmark day for Adebayor, the tall Togo striker who once wreaked such havoc with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham, but who was in danger of becoming a forgotten man after his Spurs career faded away.
