Pre-season Update: Iwobi, Omeruo, Ndidi & Others Report Back For Training

A number of Nigerian players reported back to duties at their respective Premier League clubs as pre-season gets underway ahead of the new season.

Chelsea – Kenneth Omeruo, Victor Moses & Ola Aina
Chelsea returned to their Cobham training base for the first full day of pre-season on Monday - and manager Antonio Conte joined in as they began preparations for the defence of their Premier League title.

The 47-year-old took part in a gruelling opening session alongside members of his squad as they again look to set the pace during the upcoming season.

Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Pedro and Willian were among those put through their paces on Monday, while young players including Lucas Piazon, Andreas Christensen, Victor Moses and Kenneth Omeruo also joined in the session.

Moses had a terrific season last campaign and will be looking to build on that. Omeruo who spent last season on loan in Turkey will most likely be shipped out on a permanent basis this summer as he is not in the plans of the Italian manager. Meanwhile, Ola Aina has joined relegated premier league club Hull City on loan.

Manchester City – Kelechi Iheanacho & Tosin Adarabioyo
Manchester City returned to training for the first time after their summer break on Monday, with fans keen to see how the new recruits would interact with their team mates.
Iheanacho who is expected to complete his £25m switch to Leicester City this week joined the team for training.

On the other hand, Adarabioyo who signed a bumper new deal last week was also spotted in training alongside new goalkeeper Ederson it seems, who was the centre of attention as he shared a joke with fellow Brazilians Gabriel Jesus and Fernando.

The new City No 1 was a £35million acquisition from Benfica in June, making him the most expensive goalkeeper signed by a British club.
Leicester City – Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa
Super Eagles duo Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa have travelled with Leicester City to Austria for pre-season training.
Leicester took part in a series of warm weather training sessions throughout their stay in the state of Carinthia, flight to Klagenfurt on Sunday afternoon and touched down in the early evening before enjoying a short bike ride through the hotel’s picturesque surrounding area.

Ahmed Musa is preparing for his second full season with the Foxes after joining for a record fee last summer and must do more to convince manager Craig Shakespeare. Ndidi meanwhile has been very impressive since he moved from Gent in January.

Arsenal- Alexander Iwobi & Chuba Akpom
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi late Sunday night was one of the 25 Arsenal players confirmed by the club for Monday's trip to Australia for their pre-season programme
Iwobi was in the team also for the Gunners' pre-season trip to the Asia last year.
There was no place for Nigerian-born England youth international Chuba Akpom in the latest trip, a development that suggests that the youngster who has tasted most of his senior Arsenal career as a loanee outside is on his way out again this summer.

Also missing from the side, apparently earmarked for either summer sales or loan deals include Wojciech Szeczesny, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson and Lucas Perez.

Arsenal will play two warm up matches in Australia before journeying to China where they will play competitive matches before they return to England for the Emirates Cup towards the end of the month.
