Today's Gossip: Chelsea Face Choice Dilemma, Liverpool To Land Meyer In Summer

Alvaro Morata or Romelu Lukaku
Chelsea willing to spend up to £70million on a marquee striker this Summer, but are locked in a wrangle over whether to sign Romelu Lukaku or Alvaro Morata

Boss Antonio Conte wants Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata to spearhead the defence of the Premier League title but also to provide firepower in Europe with the return to Champions League football next season.
Technical director Michael Emenalo wants unsettled Everton star Romelu Lukaku back at Chelsea having taken him there in 2011 as a youngster. Lukaku’s experience of English football is another huge factor in Emenalo’s argument to go for the big Belgian who is the Premier League’s top scorer with 21 goals.

Conte could be given funds to go for BOTH players but that would prove tricky as it would also mean offloading misfit striker Michy Batshuayi first.

Plus, Morata and Lukaku would find it difficult being anything other than first choice and Conte’s formations revolve around one main centre forward.

Max Meyer To Anfield
Liverpool are ready to join the battle for the services of the ‘German Dele Alli”.

Young Bundesliga star Max Meyer looks certain to move to the Premier League in the summer, and the Reds' boss Jurgen Klopp is now prepared to compete with Alli's Tottenham and derby rivals Everton in the race to sign him.
He has twice watched the 21-year-old recently.

Meyer will have just a year left on his current contract at the end of the season, and said on German TV at the weekend that he is now “50-50” on whether to stay or go.

Reports in his home country suggest Schalke would now listen to offers of around £17million for the attacking midfielder — who they rated at a massive £45m last summer when Spurs made an official approach.

With his contract ticking down, they realise they will have to sell at a cut-price if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal.
